Mr. Busken’s professionalism, integrity, and flexibility made working with him an enjoyable and collaborative experience. Our case involved over 12,000 pages of discovery; Mr. Busken knew the material as well as any other member of the defense team. His pre-trial deposition made it clear to the state that he would be unimpeachable at trial. When the state informed the defense and the court minutes before jury selection that their use-of-force expert would be watching the entire trial, starting with the openings that afternoon, Mr. Busken showed what working with a highly skilled and dedicated professional is like. Mr. Busken dropped what he was doing to begin watching the trial virtually that afternoon; he changed his flight and accommodations, and within the day had confirmed his ability to attend the entire 2 ½ week trial in person. We had originally anticipated he would be in New Hampshire for a few days. Mr. Busken did what needed to be done to ensure our client received a fair trial. With Mr. Busken on our team, I was able to feel, as a public defender, that our client’s economic status had no bearing on the quality of his defense. Trial preparation with Mr. Busken was seamless.
